Ma. Christina Rochelle Barrido: Embracing Creativity and Family in Business
“… I am in the business to express myself creatively and I am just grateful that there are people who appreciate what I create.” - Ma. Christina Rochelle Barrido
Welcome back to our special Mother's Day blog series, where we celebrate the incredible journeys of mom entrepreneurs who inspire us all. Today, we have the pleasure of featuring Ma. Christina Rochelle Barrido, the creative mom behind Stardust and Co PH. Prepare to be inspired as we dive into her story of how she turned her passion for crystals into a thriving business while nurturing her family.
What inspired you to become a mompreneur and how did you get started?
Christina: It started when I gave birth to my second child. I was losing hair from the hormones and stress from being a newborn mom again. I looked for a creative outlet to manage myself...I remember looking at the rose quartz ring that my husband gave me and thought maybe there were other ways to wear crystals...so I started making my own crystal headbands.
How did you handle balancing your business, marriage, and parenting duties?
Christina: I try to engage my family with the creative process of the business so it becomes an opportunity for us to bond. My husband is a graphic artist and he takes care of the marketing side of our business. My 5-year-old toddler loves to help in organizing my inventory of crystals. She's a bit of an artist like her dad and she comes up with wonderful color combinations for our products.
What were the biggest challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?
Christina: My biggest challenge so far is getting bulk orders from clients. Considering that my accessories are made to order, there's a certain kind of anxiety when I am expected to produce in volume. It really helps to remind myself that I am in the business to express myself creatively and that I am just grateful that there are people who appreciate what I create.
What tips or advice do you have for other moms who want to start a business while raising a family?
Christina: When looking for a business to start, it helps to figure out first what your family enjoys doing. It really helps a lot when they appreciate what you do and so much more when they actually want to help out or take an active part in the process.
